Nutrition is key to living a healthy life whether your focus is overcoming over-nutrition, under-nutrition, or making simple changes in your daily eating habits. It’s important for all of our bodies to receive the required nutrients so we can fight off illness, keep our babies safe, and have strong bodies. Nutrition isn’t only avoiding certain unhealthy foods, it also incorporating a good balance of foods that are nutrient and vitamin rich. There are countless statistics on nutrition. Obesity charts show that 32.8% of those living in Mississippi are obese. Mississippi has the highest % and Colorado has the lowest of all the states at 18.5%. For the calendar year of 2007, only 36% of Americans consumed at least 3 fruits or vegetables in one day. That is a high percent but if you look back to the year 1998, over 41% consumed at least 3 fruits or vegetables in one day. It the decrease in nutrition affects every age especially those under 24. It’s important that we continue to campaign for healthy eating and daily recommendation of all good groups so our overall health may improve.
